Stacking
in Rivertown
Released July, 2000
Stacking in Rivertown is a hauntingly dark
erotic novel that gels into what can be termed nothing less than a black
romp as the housewife heroine loads her car with guns and sets off across
country, frantic to escape both her violent pimp from her days as a player
in upscale BDSM prostitution, and a forgotten secret past. As her story
unfolds, the reader experiences her series of deeply scarring and harrowing
abusive memories. After several changes of identity, she ends up in San
Francisco where she falls in love. But her past is never far behind,
catching up with her in a final, horrific encounter.
● Publisher’s Weekly – “Brutal yet
beautiful, this unflinching debut novel delves deep into the darkest realms
of terror and abuse. . . . Becca is a remarkable
character, and Bell’s impressionistic, fragmented narration allows her
story to unfold as Becca herself recalls it. This disturbing, impressive novel
introduces an urgent and powerful new voice.” ● Kirkus - "A disturbing, often compelling
first novel. . .Newcomer Bell creates an engaging and sympathetic character
while skillfully
exploring the nature of obsession and human need: a graphically violent but
impressive debut." ● Library Journal – “unflinching
first novel . . . will capture adventuresome readers with its gritty,
vividly rendered prose.”

The Daily Times (Andre Hanson) – “Bell is a capable writer. Her
prose often segues into the most beautiful poetry, which creates a
colourful and potent style. . .Those who dare will find it very
satisfying.” (February, 2002) ●
Northern Guardian (Tracey Cook) – “(Bell) writes with an original
and crystal-clear voice that is not sullied. . .It is one hell of a ride.”
